Slí na fírinne

This afternoon I sent a text through to a regular customer to let him know his special order had arrived in and shortly after received a call from his brother to say that George died last week. I hope he got to read all his wonderful books on Wagner, or maybe they're waiting for him in his celestial library. Vaya con Dios, George, I will miss your irrepressible enthusiasm and the twinkle in your eye.

I have a wonderful customer, Louisa, who confided to me that his greatest concern was that he would die halfway through reading a book and he wouldn't get to enjoy the end. I like the idea of a celestial library, though, and may put it to him that he needn't worry after all.

Jorge Luis Borges said, "Yo siempre me había imaginado el Paraíso bajo la especie de una biblioteca" - I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.
